Bud Butler Memorial Equestrian Park

The West Bench neighbourhood is fortunate to have a newly upgraded public riding ring located at the top of Selby Park. All riders are welcome to use the facility.

Location:

Selby Park, West Bench Drive, a short distance north of West Bench Elementary School (see map)

Amenities:

  • 22m x 72m  ring, fully fenced, with new footing
  • Automatic watering for dust control
  • Round pen for warm-up and to lunge horses
  • Storage house for jump standards and poles
  • Viewing area, with room to set up lawn chairs
  • Dedicated horse path from West Bench Dr. to the riding ring. 

Ring Etiquette:

  • All riders welcome
  • Please replace equipment leave facilities clean after use
  • Use round pen to lunge horses
  • If the round pen is very dusty, set up the sprinkler for a few minutes prior to use
  • Riders must share this ring. If a lesson is being given, some space must be left for other riders.
  • If a clinic or horseshow which requires the full use of the ring has booked the ring, notification will be posted at the ring.
  • Barrel racing/pole bending/sliding stops are not permitted due to hazard of rock crush base and light sand footing
  • This is a public facility maintained by volunteers.
