One issue in Sage Mesa is clean drinking water! Not great to be on a boil water advisory every year!

1. The Sage Mesa water system is a privately-owned utility. The RDOS thus has no control over the issues that lead to boil water advisories.  This may change, however (see page).

2. The one-hectare rule (see page) applies to new subdivisions.  Thus, existing parcels of land that already have the right to a septic field will continue to have that right.  The underlying message, however, is that the province does not think a septic field on less than an hectare of land is a good idea.

3. Sewer for the greater West Bench is a priority if we are willing to pay for it.  Some rough numbers per household can be found here.  The baseline number is about $4,000 per household per year just to get sewer to your lot line.  This goes down with (a) grants (never a sure thing) and (b) increased density.  The question of density is being addressed in the Area F OCP review.
